Florida's teachers salaries falling fast

Florida teacher salaries fall to No. 37, and appear to be sinking fast
Florida teacher salaries continue to fall relative to other states. For 2009-10, Florida fell to No. 37 among the 50 states and the District of Columbia, according to the latest Rankings & Estimates report from the National Education Association, released this morning.

Florida's average teacher salary last year: $46,708. The national average: $55,202.

Projections show Florida's ranking continuing to fall, and fast.

Florida's estimated average teacher salary for 2010-11, according to the NEA, puts it at No. 47, ahead of only Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Utah.

Florida was No. 28 in 2006-07, No. 29 in 2007-08, No. 34 in 2008-09.
