Many people and rightfully so, are in an uproar about the district potentially cutting sports and some have been talking about how high the districts budgets have gotten as if they should be able to easily find other money to cut.
The district’s budget last five years have been:
2006-07 $994,243,294.58
2007-08 $1,049,670,491.32
2008-09 $1,047,136,340.03
2009-10 $1,006,172,079.87
2010-11 $1,013,115,794.17
It’s a lot right and I have no doubt some is wasted but at the same time I can’t imagine that figure approaches anything close to a hundred million. We are entitled to our own opinions but not our own facts.
Cutting that amount is going to hurt and I hope you will let your state representatives know it is unacceptable to treat our schools, teachers and children in such a callous way.
Tell them to close the billions in tax breaks and loop holes before they come after our children’s education and future.
