School choice is the wrong choice

Do we have choice for our police, fire department and military? What about who builds our roads or inspects our meat? Dozens of government functions are a monopoly and we couldn’t image it being different. Yet for some reason we want to change that with our K-12 schools?

The right answer should be to make our public schools work not cripple them, which is what the powers that be have been doing with their standardized tests, vouchers, charter schools and other education deforms for over a decade now. Public schools have been meddled with to the point they are on life support so the powers-that-be can siphon money away to the private sector. They have perverted education from being what is best for our children, to how can (the private sector) make a buck.

A k-12 education should not be for profit but that is the direction we are being herded like sheep towards
