The Times Union wakes up now?

The Times Union was deservedly hard on the school board in an op-ed piece today. In case you somehow missed it the board basically in secrecy and arguably against the law fired the superintendent away from the eyes of the public.

They did so at two meetings named Quarterly Goals Update and Continuing Quarterly Goals Update. Not, hey we’re thinking about getting rid of the superintendent and hey today’s the day we’re going to get rid of the superintendent. The public also has no idea what was discussed at the meetings because the notes that were taken were sparse to say the least.

My question is, now the Times Union decides to call out the board? Where were they when teacher morale began to drop and they and the super started to treat them like easily replaceable cogs.

Where were they when the state rankings came out and it was revealed we have eight of the bottom 25 high schools in the state?

Where were they when the district perverted grade recovery, gutted discipline and threw rigor out the window?

Where were they when the district decided graduating kids ill prepared for anything was okay as long as the district’s numbers looked okay.
Where were they when ‘insert dozens of other failed policies and bad decisions” here.

Now the Times Union wakes up and realizes they violated the public’s trust? Well friends they have been violating the public’s trust for years.

If only the TU would have woken up years ago.
