W.C. Gentry and the letter of the law

Mr. Gentry is a lawyer and if bank account is any indicator he is a good one. Maybe that’s why he repeatedly refers to the term, letter of the law.

A few years back I informed him that Ed White high school was shamefully warehousing 17 and sometimes more severely disabled children in classrooms. No learning could take place and quite frankly it was a safety issue too. He got back to me and said, according to the letter of the law that was perfectly permissible. It wasn’t the letter of the law that I was worried about but decency.

He referred to the letter of the law again this week when taking notes at the meeting where it was decided to get rid of Pratt-Dannals. Not once in his sparse note did he mention the biggest decision they have made in years but since there was some kind of notes he says he fulfilled the letter of the law. Well here I am not talking about the letter of the law, I am talking about the public trust that he and the rest of the school board violated.

He’s seeking reelection by the way, as are Burney and Barrett. My question for you is do you want a board that follows the letter of the law or a board that does the right thing for our children and one you can trust.
