The Times Union says we’re off to a good start with the FCAT? Um the FCAT started in 1999.

That was the title of their most recent misguided editorial about education anyways.

Um friends this is the FCATs 13th year of existence and as far as a good start, what do you think? The reading scores have never come up, we dumbed down our writing skills making grammar, punctuation and cogent thought unimportant (until this year), most schools are forced to teach to the test and fewer kids are college ready than ever. Is that the good start they are talking about? If the last 13 years of the FCAT has been a good start I hate to see what happens when things get going.
