Teacher asks, why is DCPS trying to kill the teaching profession?

From a reader:

Duval County Public Schools appear to be slowly in the process of removing the need for career educators. Our superintendent has renegotiated the contract with TFA and is bringing in “consultants” for a group (TNTP) Michelle Rhee started years ago. This group also provides school districts with “teachers” just like TFA does. The majority of these “teachers” stay in the classroom approximately two years and then move on to graduate school or positions of administration in the group they are representing.  Remember that very few of their recruits are college of ed graduates (they are not welcomed by these groups).  While this is very cost saving for school districts, it results in constant turnover in the very schools where they are placed. These are usually the schools where the students are the lowest academic performers due to their socioeconomic status. Positions that in the past would have been filled by a college of education graduate are no longer available to young teachers who aspire to be career teachers. Our neediest students will continue to suffer academically if this trend is allowed to continue.

Teachers in Jacksonville would do well to remember that Michelle Rhee was the advisor to Governor Scott, which is why all Florida teachers are in the mess we are in today. She is supported by money from Bill Gates and the Walton Foundation (Walmart).  There  should be further concern that TNTF has provided “data” that shows a first year “teacher” that they have trained is more effective than a 7 year veteran who is a college of ed graduate.

Ask yourself  ~ WHY WOULD DR. VITTI AND THE SCHOOL BOARD  CHOOSE THIS CORPORATION TO DO A “CLIMATE SURVEY” OR A STUDY ON THE “RETENTION” OF TEACHERS?

Here are links to the information that is provided by the organizations/person. It all sounds very patriotic and wonderful for students. Don’t believe it! The news is filled daily with the damage that is being done by these groups.

Links to information the DCPS School Board, superintendent, and mainstream media will never show you… (I have more, but you can find them yourselves.)
