Solutions that don’t break the bank, reinvent the wheel or marginalize our teachers are within our grasp. We could have rigorous classes, safe and disciplined schools and treat teachers like professionals, and we could do so tomorrow if we wanted.

Six out of ten Utah kids fail test Florida paid five million dollars for.
That's because Utah's standards are as ridiculous as FL's, just in different ways. I know somebody who went to junior college there who go credit for "seat time."
I don't think it's Utah's standards, basic reading and math in the early grades, pretty standard stuff. Now pompous, over credentialed idiots trying to be clever when they construct test items....that could be the problem. Show me a PhD that doesn't over complicate basic common sense and I'll show you his tombstone, cuz he's gotta be dead if that tongues not wag'n.
