The Florida Legislature sends a chilling message to it's enemies... the Florida Supreme Court and School Boards

The Florida legislature through different bills has sent a chilling message to its enemies and that’s don’t mess with us and we will mess with your money. Who are their enemies you ask? Well it’s not some invading army or foreign country it’s the state’s very own Supreme Court and school districts.

While slashing the top courts budget which will greatly hamper their ability to conduct business they have proposed splitting the court into two bodies one for civil and criminal matters with five judges each. Then with the help of Rick Scott they can appoint whoever they want. The reason for this blatant power grab is thought to be because the Supreme Court disallowed some constitutional amendments that the legislature proposed.

Next Jacksonville’s own Steven Wise has proposed stripping the states school boards of their salaries, which average about thirty thousand dollars (37 in Jacksonville). He says it’s so state wide we can save ten million dollars but the real reason is because they have protested his anti-education policies and encouraged the citizens of Florida to do so as well.

Thus far there has been no proposal to end the state legislator’s salaries or to limit the size and salary of their staffs some of whom have both dubious credentials and are paid six figures. If we were to do that we could potentially save tens of millions of dollars. However in this case according to them what is good for the goose is not good for the gander.

The state legislator has sent its enemies a chilling message, a message all the citizens of Florida should have both received and not be happy with. A message I hope they will tell them we won’t put up with and will remember next election.
