In her video telling the Times Union she says she isn’t running because she didn’t want to be one of the politicians that just sticks around (Martha Barrett anyone), she also implied she was initially running for her third term because another running (presumably Chris Guerrieri) would harm the board’s cohesion and that she was just running to save the board.
Education Matters has a few issues with these statements.
First she was the very first candidate in district 5 to file and she did so by Months. That’s right friends she was in the race months before anyone else.
She has a candidate statement up on the Supervisor of Elections web site, which is something very few other candidates do.
If she were so concerned about cohesion, why would she call Martha Barrett out like that?
Finally if the board’s cohesion has gotten the district to where we are at, then board cohesion is one of our biggest issues.
Before her digs at other candidates why didn’t she just say, I was going to run for a third term (what she told family members just a few days before at a gathering) because I felt I had unfinished business but term limits have stopped me from doing so.
Why not just tell the truth? Why try to spin it into something self-serving?
Goodbye Mrs. Burney the district will be better off without you.
Trust God.
ReplyDeleteOur School Board and Superintendent need the support of all stakeholders. If there are any negatives, then they should be brought to our leaders so that resolution can surface. The presentation of such negatives only makes Duval County look bad.
Be a supporter or voice your concerns directly with the source and stop making public, degrading comments.
The negatives have been brought forward and ignored. So what do we do know?
