Solutions that don’t break the bank, reinvent the wheel or marginalize our teachers are within our grasp. We could have rigorous classes, safe and disciplined schools and treat teachers like professionals, and we could do so tomorrow if we wanted.

The future of public education if the republicans in Tallahassee get their way
One picture says it all as the Florida Legislature moves to replace public schools with charters.
I was thinking that my biggest problem with ultimately connecting a teacher's employment to a test means that the teacher will teach to the test. Despite all of the PD about how teachers aren't going to do that, we find ourselves basically "filling a bucket" instead of lighting a fire. I suppose the only thing we can do is try to set the bucket on fire.
