Steve Wise once asked, if we came from apes why do we still have apes, his lack of science knowledge non-withstanding Steve Wise is not a dumb man; a man who hates public education and who doesn’t care about our children, yes, but not a dumb man, no.
It is because of this that many people close to the situation are speculating that the timing of the school board salary increase was not coincidental. That it was done to distract us from the current debacle the state has made of education that will only be exacerbated in the next few months when the legislature reconvenes. Notice nobody is now talking about the governor’s war on higher education, all the charter school debacles and the next round of cuts to education the state plans to impose on our school districts.
I am not going to lie; a first grader could have handled the situation better than our school board, as they continue to be blind sided by the big picture. I also think this distracted Jacksonville from the fact the school board shamefully granted the underperforming KIPP permission to open two more schools but at the same time I believe they were the pawns of the state. As we all have been during their crusade to destroy public education.
Steve Wise is not a dumb man, a man who hates public education and who doesn’t care about our children, yes, but not a dumb man, no.
