The school board suddenly tackles issues Chris Guerrieri has been writing about for years

I was wondering if people have noticed that the school board is now addressing issues I have been writing about for years.

How administrators are often promoted based on who they know not their ability.

A lack of discipline.

A lack of rigor

How teachers are often shoddily treated.

Mandatory summer school.

Mrs. Burney talked abut a steep learning curve recently, apparently after 8 years she just started to get it. I hope whoever replaces her will do a better job.

  1. Why are School Board members being paid salaries, pensions and other great perks? Florida's 67 school district school board members are being paid almost $15 million per year which does not include their generous pensions, health care benefits and other super freebies. This should be a volunteer position. Enough taxpayer government-paid benefits for employees. Same with the city councils and other government employees.
