In a Times Union article he said: "If you measure effectiveness by progress, we've been very effective," said board member W.C. Gentry. "If you measure effectiveness by achievement, we've got a long way to go."
Um when our supposed progress is made by massaging numbers, our graduation rates way up our referrals way down; when our progress is based on treating teachers like second class citizens and robbing children of a work ethic and discipline; when our progress is nothing more than smoke and mirrors, subterfuge, exaggerations and a firm stretching of the truth then what progress have we made?!?
As for achievement he is right, we lag behind the rest of the state and I believe the responsibility for this lies on the shoulders of a board and super, who gutted teacher morale and destroyed student accountability.
