In case you missed it, most of Florida’s parent organizations asked Rick Scott to pull from consideration Tony Bennett to become Florida’s commissioner of education.
According to the Times Union, on Tuesday, a letter signed by members of nine groups called on Gov. Rick Scott to step in and reject each of the three finalists because “apparently endorse an extreme reform agenda that does not represent our vision of public education.”
So what happens? The state board of education unanimously appoints him and in doing so say, we know what’s best for your kids not you.
Strangely, for years now the board has been telling parents they should have more choice in their children’s education but I guess that only counts if they pick what the board wants them to pick.
