Not surprisingly W.C. Gentry found nothing wrong with the abysmal retention rates of local Teach for America teachers. Saying, we have a hard time retaining non-Teach for America teachers too. Well with leadership like yours Mr. Gentry that is a real shocker.
Teach for America does have a role to play in education but as a supplement not as a an assembly line for replacement teachers. There are professional teachers and college of education graduates without jobs and them not hobbyists looking for an adventure is who we would be looking to fill our classrooms. Then if there are still openings Teach for America could assist in filling them.
W.C. Gentry gets it wrong… again.
