Public universities have been grumbling for years about a shortage of construction money. But now they’re also being asked to give back some of the state funding they haven’t spent on projects that had already been authorized, according to an article in the Gainesville Sun.
A committee of the Florida Board of Governors, which oversees the State University System, got a somber update yesterday about the state of university funding.
Gov. Rick Scott wants public colleges and universities as well as Florida’s school districts to return as much as $250 million in previously authorized funding, according to the Sun.
