The Times Union Contradicts itself in the same editorial

The Times Union contradicts itself in the same editorial. They say at the beginning that more of our students are graduating college ready but then later say 60% of our grads have to take remedial classes in college. Well which is it, college ready or having to take remedial classes.

Well what the Times Union is talking about is the supposed college ready curriculum that kids here in Duval are supposed to take, accept when we rely on grade recovery and cajoling teachers into passing kids then the curriculum loses its luster, its rigor, its validity and that is why so many of our kids need remediation in college.

The Times Union for years now has chosen to remain willfully ignorant about our education problems and their all is well, we just need some tweaking message is dangerous. Yes we have great things going on, yes there are pockets of excellence throughout the city but just as equally yes as a school district under the mismanagement of the superintendent and board we are floundering.

The Times Union should change their message or remain silent.
