Last year the district pled poverty, fired people, outsourced jobs, ended programs and cut salaries. It turns out they were sitting on over a hundred million dollars.
At the last school board meeting Chairwoman Betty Burney told the custodians who were forced to take a seven percent pay cut, later increased to ten percent because of Rick Scott’s pension grab, that she would have the district meet with them to make amends.
Fast-forward a month and the custodians have still not been taken care of and nowhere on the agenda does it say they will be.
If we can’t trust the district to take care of its employees, especially those that don’t make that much to begin with, what can we trust them to take care of?
