In May the county is going to send Betty Burney, Ed Pratt-Dannals and Terrie Brady to a conference on labor-management in Cincinnati. Seems reasonable right that the superintendent, school board chair and the head of the union all go, except this is Duval County and here as ever things are upside down.
With a bit of luck and the right applicant, the superintendent will be gone July 1st, which means whatever he learns he will have to apply to his next position.
Then Mrs. Burney is up for reelection which means there is at least a fair chance she will be gone at the beginning of November.
This sounds like a reasonable conference for the district to attend but I wonder why the district feels the need to send a delegation where two thirds of the participants will or may not be here in a few months. There wasn’t another district administrator or school board member that could go?
