I don't have a problem with them selling the school to a church and I have no idea if a thousand dollars is an appropriate fee or not but them selling it to an entity that looks like it was created just to buy the school troubles me... greatly.
The school system regularly sells off old school buildings, and some civic groups vie for the honor of bidding on the building. Sometimes they go to worthy causes, but at other times one can wonder if the taxpayers are getting their money's worth. Ideally, a building should go, at a reasonable price, to an entity that will pay taxes on the structure. That puts something back into the taxpayers' kitty. However, when a building goes to a church, taxpayers don't benefit very much.
