Today was a planing day so I went to lunch with some teachers from my previous school, an intervene school on the West side.
How were things going? I asked.
Chris the inmates are truly running the asylum, one said.
The kids are in charge, another replied.
They come and go and act as they please and if a teacher tries to instill a little discipline or a few consequences for a lack of effort on a student then we're the ones taken to the woodshed, a third finished.
They then all let out a collective sigh.
Nothings changed, I replied, drawing an awkward chuckle.
And we wonder why we are in trouble.
