The board’s ongoing shameful treatment of the districts custodians reminded me once again they have lost their way. Weeks ago they promised them that they would be taken care of but as of today the custodians are still out in the cold. These are people's lives that have been messed with. But they aren't the only ones.
How can they expect teachers to do a good job when they are not supported, overwhelmed with tasks and then treated like second class citizens?
How do they expect kids to be successful in life when pushing them through and dumping them out not properly educating them is the districts priority?
Look at some of their other decisions. Where are the fixes to the intervene schools? Why did they agree to bring in hundreds of TFA teachers, hobbyists, when hundreds of local teachers and college of ed grads can’t find jobs. Why did they allow the KIPP School to expand without proof of improvement? How much money have we wasted on Schools of the Future and A.P. tests? I could go on and on.
Now that they are tasked with picking a new superintendent, after they allowed him to run us into a ditch, how can we trust that they will do the right thing?
