The Duval County school board loses what little credibility they had left

The headline a few days ago was, the process to pick a superintendent will be a long one. They didn’t even plan to pick a search firm until July. Now all of a sudden they want to pick the next super before the august elections? Why the dramatic change of heart?

Did Peter Rummell’s threat to find qualified applicants to run against the three board members that have announced they are running for reelection scare them that much?

I strongly believe we should have our new superintendent in place before the 12-13 school year, the sooner Pratt-Dannals leaves the better and if we had some sense of urgency we could do it.

But I just as strongly believe the four lame duck school board members should recuse themselves from the search. Three of them helped pick our last two superintendents both arguably disasters and all four are on a board which has consistently done the wrong thing for the cities teachers and children.
