Why is
this news on an education blog? It is because it means a significant amount of
the members of Congress cannot relate to the everyday trials and tribulations
of regular people. As they vote to cut food stamps, end unemployment benefits
and continues to ignore poverty in education; they make things worse not
better.
Our
country would be better suited off if 435 citizens were chosen at random to run
things.
Let me
bring it home for you, charters, vouchers, common core, merit pay, and so
called accountability evaluations, the crown jewels of the education reformer movemnt
not only don’t have evidence that says they work but will never work as long as
we ignore poverty, and poverty is something too many members of congress just
don’t understand.
