During his farewell speech he mentioned the merit pay bill or what teachers like to call the unfunded education killer bill. He said “The principle of pay for performance should never be compromised.” Well if that is the case then if he made a penny he made way too much. The bill is both unfunded and fundamentally for the worse changes the education system but furthermore it wasn’t even necessary. Teachers weren’t asking for it and in fact were vehemently against it and that should tell you something.
Bill Proctor wasn’t the worst, that is a co-dishonor reserved for Steve Wise and John Thrasher but he was part of the crew that really hurt public education. He will not be missed by many.
