Proof of the Times Union's love affair with the superintendent

On January 29th the Times Union had an editorial that said:

The Duval County public schools ended the year with positive graduation news.
At the same time, the district’s intervene schools remain a major concern. There are too many high school students who cannot read at grade level.

The challenge from a leadership standpoint is not to panic, to allow good leadership the time to produce results. Too much change produces more turmoil.

To fail would be to lose public control. For those in the neighborhood of the intervene schools, losing control to a private firm would be a traumatic loss. http://jacksonville.com/opinion/editorials/2011-12-29/story/browns-election-part-new-era

On February29th, just two months later the editorial from the Times Union was titled, Time is right for new school leadership. http://jacksonville.com/opinion/editorials/2012-02-29/story/time-right-new-school-leadership

What happened to, too much change produces turmoil? What happened to allow good leadership the time to produce results? I wonder what the editorial would have been if the school board hadn’t fired the super? Probably something like, time to extend his contract.

The Times Union has long had a love affair with Superintendent Pratt-Dannals and they have let this cloud their judgment and in the process have hurt the cities, kids, teachers and the city itself.

So which is it Times Union, give good leadership the time to produce results or is the time right for new leadership? The answer is they wouldn’t know because they haven’t seen good leadership. The truth is the city deserves better, both from it's superintendent of schools and it's editors of newspapers
