For the last two years the superintendent made the rounds at community budget meetings pleading poverty and grossly understating the amount of reserves the district has. He then hid behind this subterfuge and claimed best practices.
It’s best practices to lie to the citizens of Jacksonville?!?
I have a short but important list of other things he has deceived the city about and lets start with graduation rates. They aren’t up as much as he would have you believe and any gains we have are grade recovery and social promotion enhance. More of our kids are college ready; well not according to Florida State College where 70 percent of our grads have to take remedial classes. Discipline, ask a teacher at a neighborhood school what they think about the improvements to discipline. Duval being a B district, laughable, we’re 50th out of 67 on he FCAT, have 8 of the bottom 25 (out of 404) high schools and we graduate only 54% of our African American kids.
The superintendent has run the district into a ditch and now wants a gold watch for it.
