Vitti has twitter spat with frustrated parent

Daily you get the impression things are spiraling out of control. Vitti has lost many of the district's teachers how long can it be until the parents follow.

  1. Two of my introverted students (I was an IT teacher for God's sake) overcame their deathly fear of speaking and practiced with me after school a couple of days to prepare to speak to Vitti, the school board and JaxPEF about the Sandalwood IT Academy.

When they spoke, we all (teachers and students) noticed Dr. Vitti on his phone the entire time. One of the students came up to me slightly sad, slightly mad, and said, "Mr. Khalil, Dr. Vitti was texting on his phone the whole time." I told her I was sorry, that I'm sure something very urgent had happened.

I checked my own phone and saw a new informational email from Vitti. It was not urgent. That was my first time meeting Dr. Vitti and my impression of him has only gotten worse since then.I'm glad to see him getting called out publicly on his disregard and disrespect for the value of other people's contributions. People take it seriously when he is in the audience. I only wish he would take it seriously.

It is a common theme with Dr. Vitti, that people never feel he is a really listening at things like roundtable and town halls and even one on one conversations. It's an issue.

  2. Now that he has his nifty new contract he doesn't even have to act like he gives a crap what anyone thinks. Why worry when you have job security? He can be himself. Does anyone honestly think he's planning on a CAREER as Duval county Superintendent? He's gotten more than he deserved out of this gig and is likely already looking around for his next move. At this point he can blame this big bad Legislature for all his failures. He's already started on that. By the time he comes up for renewal again he'll be flitting off and they will start a new search. Hope they do a better job next time.

  3. You gotta respect the man's tactics. In order for someone to be on top, there has to be someone on the bottom. DCPS teachers are on the bottom. We get beaten down by these awful students (that 5%, because any teacher worth his/her salt knows that not all of our kids are bad) and these administrators who are up to no good. There are some great administrators, but then you have ...
