During the school board meeting Vitti said he believed most
principals would take Teach for America teachers over other applicants. He said
it with such confidence that principals would rather have non-education majors
with five weeks of training who will only stay for two years over any other
applicant. A professional teacher moving to the area, a recent grad with a
degree in ed, anybody.
What?!? He is either incredibly out of touch or he is
putting the wrong people in charge who are.
The districts main goal should be to put professional
educators in our classes or people who will develop into them and Teach for America
misses on both. Vitti's main goal seems to be to replace professional teachers with hobbyists.
