Another disapointing education editorial from the Times Union

Their latest editorial started, All too often these days, people in powerful positions do things that make us shake our heads and say, “What were they thinking?

Well what are you thinking and let me count the ways.

People in the know do not think Florida is doing education the right way. Look at how California and Texas have pushed back against Jeb Bush’s testing policies.

Then the Times Union celebrates merit pay except study after study says merit pay does not work. Friends there is not one study that says merit pay works. Not one. Read that again, not one! But it is worse than that, say there was one, well the state did not fund senate bill 736. It is merit pay without the pay!!!!!!!! It is all carrot and no stick.

Then the editors at the Times Union join the superintendent in having his cake and eating it too. They should not be allowed to write editorials and have press conferences about how well our schools are doing because of changes in the system and then complain that future changes will make the system do worse.

Sure the states policies are ridiculous. but at least they are not hypocrites.

Incredibly disapointing.
