Vitti said it was not easy to turn around 160 schools
and thousands of classrooms in just a couple years, this after he talked about
how hard it was to build 160 leaders, three hundred when you are talking about assistant
principals and 8000 teachers. To transform that many individuals in a short amount
of time is daunting work but it’s what he signed up to do. Listen to the
10:00-12:00 minute mark.
Um, we definitely had problems before the super
arrived, poor discipline and teacher moral come to mind and those two things
greatly affect student achievement but here is the thing those things are worse
than ever.
Our district did not requiring blowing up, we have
many great schools and teachers, and a fair amount of great leaders too. The district
was not the barren waste land he is making it out to be. But maybe that is the problem, he thinks he is somewhere he is not or maybe he wants us all to think it was to distract us and to justify what he is doing.
Finally I would like to point out that I think the states grading system is crap but before he arrived they said we were a B district and since he has been here they have said we are a C district.
Oy Vey!
