Wow, this guy is the governor, he leads people, wow.
Elections really do have consequences, and this last election for governor is going to cost lives.
From Politico,
Gov. Ron DeSantis, in his push to reopen classrooms this fall, said Thursday that if retailers are allowed to operate, schools should be, too.
The risk of children getting sick is “extremely, extremely low,” DeSantis said, and if fast-food eateries and hardware stores could operate as “essential” businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, then schools should reopen as well.
“We spent months saying that there were certain things that were essential,” DeSantis told reporters in Jacksonville. “That included fast-food restaurants. It included Walmart. It included Home Depot.”
“But if all that is essential, then educating our kids is absolutely essential,” he said. “They have been put to the back of the line in some respects.”

Okay, let's unpack that. Full disclosure I haven't been to a Walmart in about 7 years but I think I remember what they were like.
First, it appears governor DeSantis has never been in a school and has no idea what goes on in them. Walmart's are much larger where social distancing is easier to do. Schools may be big, but classrooms are not. You get more than ten people in your average classroom and social distancing is out the window.
The air circulates in Walmarts too. Their big air conditioners continuously moving. The air in classrooms just kind of sits there, and I don't know about all teachers out there, but I haven't been allowed to leave my door open for years.
Finally, when I did go to Walmart I would get in and get out, I wouldn't spend 7 or more hours in them. Now I get employees at Walmarts do but they aren't usually surrounded by a gaggle of kids that need to be taken care of.
This is the bottom line, when schools open people will get sick and they will close. It's not a matter of if but when and how many. We are risking the lives and the health of children and teachers for what? A couple weeks of daycare? Mark my words the cost of opening schools will be one we regret paying.
