Leaked CDC documents admit opening schools put children and teachers at grave risk.

Sigh.

We are in a weird and dangerous world when politics supersede the health of children and teachers, but sadly that is what has happened, and because of it, people are going to get sick and worse.

If this does not sicken you, I can't imagine what will.

From CNN,

Internal documents from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that fully reopening K-12 schools and universities would be the "highest risk" for the spread of coronavirus, according to a New York Times report, as President Donald Trump and his administration push for students and teachers to return in-person to classrooms.
The 69-page document obtained by the Times marked "For Internal Use Only" was among materials for federal public health response teams deployed to coronavirus hotspots to help local public health officials handle the outbreak, the newspaper reported.
The document was circulated this week, the Times reported, as Trump slammed the CDC guidelines around reopening schools and he, Vice President Mike Pence and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos increased their pressure on schools to fully reopen by the fall.
Sigh.
This startling revelation comes just days after the president said he would talk to the CDC about their recommendations and vice president Pence announced they would be revising them.

There isn't a teacher that doesn't want to be back, that doesn't think it is for the best. The sad reality, however, is it will be dangerous for children and adults, people will get sick, and there are much safer options.
This is the sad reality. It is not a matter of if but when and how many people will get sick. When these teachers and children do, we will close schools. Which means we have risked lives for what? A couple weeks of daycare. Our children and teachers deserve better; the question now becomes, will they get it, and will parents and teachers demand it?
